GROWER WANTED FOR COTESBACH CIC WALLED GARDEN, LEICESTER

Cotesbach Gardens C.I.C. is looking for a full time grower to run a 1.5 acre organically certified historic walled garden and orchard. The role requires prior experience of organic growing, preferably including some horticultural training, commitment to building up local food networks, the ability to work independently, to contribute ideas and implement the year’s cropping plan, to maintain daily records, to want to dedicate some hard graft to the job and to be able to delegate jobs to volunteers.

Established as a social enterprise in March 2015, we have steadily increased production and turnover, exploring new markets and building up local demand through our small retail outlet in the Stable Yard, the Larder. Set within the residential and business community of Cotesbach Estate our business is well placed to expand, whether via cropping potential, or diversifying into other areas, eg food, associated products or educational initiatives (Cotesbach Educational Trust is on the doorstep). Though funding is being sought initially to part fund the post, we are confident the business has the potential of financing a full time post, and would be likely to give preference to someone who wanted to commit to the post for at least three seasons.
